I have my MLC Project Preferences set as: Use CPU = No Use NVIDIA GPU = Yes On BOINC startup I get the following messages for MLC: 10/26/2020 7:07:34 AM | MLC@Home | URL https://www.mlcathome.org/mlcathome/; Computer ID 311; resource share 100 10/26/2020 7:07:34 AM | MLC@Home | Not using CPU: project preferences 10/26/2020 7:07:34 AM | MLC@Home | Not using NVIDIA GPU: project preferences This is happening across multiple machines (Win10 & Ubuntu) set to accept MLC GPU wu's. |

Hmm.. I'll look into it. It's possible that change to disable GPU in prefs by default messed something up :/ . |

It's possible that change to disable GPU in prefs by default messed something upSeems so. For me the scheduler says <no_cpu>0</no_cpu> <no_cuda>0</no_cuda>when I thought I had CPU on and NV off. |

I changed it back for now, sorry Dataman. I'll look at other ways to change the default than what I tried. |

No worries pianoman. Apparently it is still not working. 10/26/2020 4:49:02 PM | MLC@Home | URL https://www.mlcathome.org/mlcathome/; Computer ID 311; resource share 100 10/26/2020 4:49:02 PM | MLC@Home | Not using CPU: project preferences 10/26/2020 4:49:02 PM | MLC@Home | Not using NVIDIA GPU: project preferences I rebooted the machine to make sure everything cleared. Checked the MLC preferences are still the same; CPU/No GPU/Yes. Started BOINC. Same result. Actually I cannot verify that it originally worked even before you made the first change as I just accidentally noticed these messages this morning when I rebooted a machine for another reason. Cheers |

Maybe you should try manually re-setting the prefs (as in say "edit prefs" and toggle them, then click save) the way you want them again? I know that at least my test user can set CPU = off, NVidia = on, and have it honor those. Finally got my first GPU WU served up by the project running on my test machine now. Of course, the issue now is GPU WUs need lots more ram and disk space compared to CPU ones. but that's an issue for another thread . |

Maybe you should try manually re-setting the prefs (as in say "edit prefs" and toggle them, then click save) the way you want them again? Been there, done that ... got the T-shirt. No joy. I will wait and see what happens when you start sending out wu's. Should be apparent then. |

For me it works as expected now. Looks like whatever was changed only affected display of that particular setting in the UI, not the actual value. |

I removed MLC and reinstalled it and it looks OK now. Looks like I will have to do that 24 more times. :( |

Dataman, you mentioned restarting BOINC or rebooting the computer, but all that does not update the client's settings. It needs to contact the project for that. Do a project update if you want to force it, or just wait for a routine contact during normal operation. |
