I have my first WUs crunching on my network. Two things before I open it up for wider testing..

  • It is 64-bit Windows only (x64). The pytorch libraries are only distributed at 64-bit, and while it looks like it may be a possible to compile the sources by hand, its not very well tested at all. How many people would be upset if we only supported 64-bit windows? I mean, the hardware's been 64-bit since 2002...
  • It requires installing the VC 2015 redistributable runtime. Whats worse, if if you run the app and that isn't installed, the system just silently fails with generic "computation error". Thoughts on those two requirements? fixed.

You are not the first project compiled under VS2019. Active use of BOINC collects a whole collection of redist from 2005 to 2015.
But it is imperative to indicate and highlight in the announcement the requirement of a specific version - 2015 and if both architectures are needed (x32 and x64).
For 2015, it’s better to indicate the correct link, for example Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019

By the way, under Linux, you also sometimes have to install additional packages.
It would be nice to consider the possibility of using native Pytorch for the client distribution.
If this is not too complicated installation procedure.
At least one project has used this way to resolve the library dependency conflict
