Do I understand correctly that WUs will not be sent out through MLC@Home via BOINC but that those who want units to process should go to a Torrent site and download them and process them somehow? I wonder how that's going to go?

The Torrent is the data sets for others to train their networks. The files are enormous (1Tb+) and are taking a long time to seed.
The DS4 WUs we are all looking for will be distributed the normal way, via the BOINC manager. But the availability will be spotty for the foreseeable future.
