MLC@Home will be going down at midnight (Easter US timezone) tonight, Oct 8th (a little over 4 hours from now), to migrate to a new, more powerful server. The outage is scheduled for all day Oct 9th, during which time the web site and boinc work schedulers will be offline. We expect to be back up and running (on a much more powerful server!) by the morning of Oct 10th (hopefully sooner!). We'll post updates to twitter with progress in case something doesn't go according to plan: https://twitter.com/MLCHome2 . Thanks again for your support, and we'll be back shortly! |

Maintenance complete. Let us know if there are any growing pains. New server takes 7 seconds to validate a dataset 3 WU. The old one took 31s/WU. |

Awesome! That server must be a beast then :) I am glad that everything went so smoothly. No issues on my end. |

Very nice! :D All pending uploads finished normally. Any idea when the GPU stuff will be happening? And which GPUs will be supported? I was hoping that was part of the upgrade :) |

Actually, GPU support won't require downtime. In fact, moving the server over takes time away from developing GPU support. But it was necessary and long overdue. We're trying to work on GPUs this weekend too. The main GPUs will be CUDA, and recent card supported by.. cuda10? Maybe cuda9.2. Linux first, windows later. I'd also like to get ROCm support, which is linux-only, non-integrated radeon POLARIS and VEGA (not NAVI). That's the plan anyway. The good news is that client basically already supports GPUs, its just a matter of bringing it all together. |

Since all my machines are Windows based it sounds like it will be a while. Will you send out some kind of alert when you get there? |
