Problems with client in Windows 7 - app does not stop even after upload
(Message 1431)
Posted 1 Dec 2021 by Contact Post: Confirmed! I've seen this reported before, but not narrowed down to Windows 7? After your post, I re-attached a Windows 7 host to MLC and sure enough, Windows task manager shows 11 instances of mlds.exe that should not be there right now. 0 cpu usage but holding onto memory. The host has many more than 11 completed tasks, so it seems that some tasks terminate do properly. |

More teams needed in team list

Posted 27 Apr 2021 by Contact Post: team_edit_form.php wrote: Edit BOINC SynergyI just noticed that BOINC Synergy is a BOINC wide team on MLC@Home but I'm sure the team didn't exist here until I created it manually, so that falls in line with a crashed script? MLC allows emoji's in the Account name, Team Description and forum thread title but not in a forum post. 18 days ago I was able to create a Thread with no post inside it by including an emoji in the post and crashing it. https://www.mlcathome.org/mlcathome/forum_thread.php?id=188 |

Posted 27 Apr 2021 by Contact Post: using emoji's in their names and descriptions and my DB config complaining about themWell now. On April 1 (appropriate) I used an emoji for the first time. My life would have been simpler if I didn't do that. Since then I've tested emoji's on every BOINC forum with varying reactions. Some databases pass the emoji with no problem, others replace the emoji and some just crash. BOINC Synergy didn't have emoji's in the team description months ago, but they have been added recently to test and indeed several projects where BOINC Synergy is a BOINC wide team have not been able to update the description to include the added emoji's. I assume I'm crashing their script. I'll leave as is for now until I actually look to see all the results, but will likely remove those emojis later. I'm now pestering databases all over the net with emoji's just to see the varying reactions. This is probably the largest most wide-spread problem that doesn't seem to matter (but actually does cause corruptions), that I've ever come across. |

The video of the presentation will be posted to youtube shortly. On 4/21/2021, we participated on in day 2 of the workshop as a member of a panel on doing AI/ML using BOINC.Both your presentation on the 14th and yesterday's panel discussion were very interesting and informative. For me, there was new light shed on a subject that I thought I was already familiar with. pianoman [MLC@Home Admin] wrote: MLC@Home released today the first paper based on the MLDS dataset computed by our volunteers!I'm gonna have to find some time to find some time to read this slowly. In the mean time, there was a reddit button at the link, so now you can search for MLDS: A Dataset for Weight-Space Analysis of Neural Networks on reddit. Give it an upvote! |

(Message 1147)
Posted 12 Apr 2021 by Contact Post: There are awesome additions to the Schedule for The 2021 BOINC Workshop. Steven Clark from nanoHUB has been added to The World of BOINC presentations on April 14 (only 2 sleeps from now) and Max Ryabinin from Learning@home has been added to Tech Talks on April 21. Vitalii Koshura - BOINC for Android, Steven Clark - nanoHUB (San Diego Supercomputer Center) and Max Ryabinin - Learning@home have been added to the Speakers List. The agenda for Community Discussion + Tutorials on April 28 has not been posted yet but World Community Grid Tech Keith Uplinger has an exciting announcement for that day: "I am planning on doing a tutorial similar to what I did in Chicago about setting up a BOINC server and running from scratch. My plan is to have it run on ubuntu 20.04 for ease of use for those to set it up." I received my login details to Day 1, "The World of BOINC", on Wednesday, April 14 several hours ago, so they are being sent out now. There's still time to Register for this free event. |
