No existant in progress tasks.
(Message 1410)
Posted 28 Oct 2021 by Werinbert Post: For the most recent two "in progress" tasks I have found an "error 524" from the server at the time that those tasks were being sent to my computer. As a result they were never downloaded or processed on my computer. There was also a "cant open database" error in there as well. So I am going to assume that the problem is in the download. Hopefully the 534 error is something that can be easily remedied. |

No existant in progress tasks.
(Message 1409)
Posted 28 Oct 2021 by Werinbert Post: I am starting to accumulate tasks that are "in progress" but are not on my computer anyplace. I do not know if these tasks are errant down loads, that is I never received them but the server thinks they were sent out, or if they are errant uploads, I processed then sent them back but the server failed to record the activity. If it is the former, as this error is know to happen with Boinc, then I will ignore them but you may want to look into it as they are now happening more frequently. But if it is the latter then you need to look into it quickly as it is an indication of a server malfunction. And I, like everyone else, prefer my processing time not go to waste. |

Validate error for being second
(Message 1382)
Posted 13 Oct 2021 by Werinbert Post: I noticed a couple of WUs that had a second task sent out presumably because the first task timed out. The first task however was returned and arrived before the second task was returned. Consequently the second task was marked invalid merely because a valid result was already returned. example: https://www.mlcathome.org/mlcathome/workunit.php?wuid=5465870 |

Validate errors
(Message 1120)
Posted 8 Mar 2021 by Werinbert Post: The validate errors are still a bit frustrating... how are things coming along to fix or mitigate these errors? The problem as I see it is that the computers processed the tasks just fine but the stochastic model went off the deep end. Unfortunately, we as volunteers are getting dinged for our troubles. I am still unclear if the randomness is from set up or from run time. It seems to be from run time (such as optimizers changing after a restart) so for any given task a set of computers can return different results, some succeed and some fail.... the computers did not do anything wrong yet the "failed" computers fail to get credit for work done. And if that result of Luigi's task has any validity (message 1008), I think restarting tasks from a known good checkpoint would help a lot. And in regards to another comment from above, I would prefer a known "to fail" task be aborted than to waste precious computer processing to compensate for the bizarreness of Boinc task management. Trying to force this projects tasks to conform to problems with Boinc is a waste when other projects will easily enough mess up the Boinc task management machinations. |

GPU Utilization and Resource Requirements
(Message 1116)
Posted 5 Mar 2021 by Werinbert Post: So why is my 750Ti producing 4x the Cr/h as my 1660Ti? There is some serious problem somewhere in the implementation of the GPU app. |

Windows :
long runtimes
(Message 942)
Posted 19 Dec 2020 by Werinbert Post: I finally got a task to run and finish and validate on my GTX 1660 Ti (Win 7) machine. This task however ran 3 times longer when compared to my GTX 750 TI (Linux) machine. As the 1660 is much faster than my 750 I would expect that the run times would be correspondingly faster (not slower as it ended up being). [Note: this is comparing the run times of the newer double length tasks.] I am wondering as well if there is a significant difference between Win 7 and Win 10 run times? |

6 invalid wu's
(Message 917)
Posted 8 Dec 2020 by Werinbert Post: nan is probably the output code for "not a number" such as the value resulting from a square root of negative number. I don't think it is a problem with your machines, but more likely a problem with the simulation parameters causing it. Restarting the WU would more than likely just result in repeating the error. |

All my GPU applications have crushed.
(Message 913)
Posted 4 Dec 2020 by Werinbert Post: My Linux GTX 750TI machine runs GPU tasks just fine, my Win 7 GTX 1660TI how ever fails to complete tasks without error. I have also upgraded my GPU drivers which didn't have any effect. I noticed on GPU-Z that the GPU was not being utilized. and reading through this thread it looks like the tasks need many CPU cores in order to process quickly. Has there been any progress if resolving these problems? |
