But I wholeheartedly agree with the sediments conveyed by bozz4science, especially about the way this project has been run so far. There is NO hurry to get the badges implemented, especially if it takes away from real project work. I love badges, but i love well run project better.

I would also like to encourage you to bump the starting badge to 10K. As for the number of badges, I think you could modify the opacity of the color coming out of the box and get the color scheme used in many projects (normally referred to color-wise as emerald, ruby, sapphire and then add turquoise, amethyst, jade, etc. for more badge intervals)

Just a thought. (Of course, badges come first, though :) )
