Not sure if I'm getting the "calculation error" for the same reason or not. But my problems started with the unfortunate update to Windows 11, which caused all BOINC projects trying to use my NVIDIA GPU to fail. Finally I updated my NVIDIA drivers (a couple of times -- really have to do the update from the admin account) and that seemed to help. At least, BOINC tasks finally recognized that there is an NVIDIA GPU present, which they didn't before the NVIDIA driver update. However, even after that, MLCs NVIDIA task has hung and I've aborted it -- error message seems to be about "insufficient memory" now. And that hang seemed to cause a problem for other BOINC NVIDIA tasks -- they again stopped identifying that there was an NVIDIA GPU, at least until I rebooted.
Anyway, what I think I've learned (again) is:
- whenever a Windows update causes problems for BOINC, re-install NVIDIA drivers (from an admin account), and reboot (possibly reboot multiple times).
- since MLC is having more trouble with the Windows 11 update than other BOINC project, I'm putting it on suspend for now, at least until I learn about further updates from NVIDIA and/or Microsoft and/or MLC.
